More than what you see

not in the sense of being vane or conceited, or ruling a nation

I wanted to find out if this was the hack, troll job that I expected without rewarding the author beyond having a sample requested.
Based on the sample it does not appear to be simply an opportunity to say awful things to someone and earn money at the same time. I didn't want someone to get hurt by such a scheme. Thankfully, I can say that the sample at least seems sincere. I plan to return and revise this review after I check out the rest. I don't want to injure an author based solely on the suspicions of a reviewer who didn't follow up, either.
I have never read a book like this! You want to know the straight truth, with no sweetener, from a man’s perspective about the mistakes women make in relationships by not valuing themselves. It’s not what you think – or at least it wasn’t what I thought.
Author James Cardinal in his conversation with a Mieke Peterson shares his view on…. Men. In essence, James puts it out there – at the heart of it all men are built to f*%k, protect and provide.
Mieke provides her insight gained from these series of documented conversations with James that led her to realize and understand how to look at relationships differently and how not to be attached to the projection we place on people and situations including our most intimate relationships.
What Mieke learns through the conversation with James is her value. She comes to understand you can’t build a nest in a wind-swept tree or in a gale. So if you are trying to build a relationship or a home on an unsteady platform or in inappropriate places, they’ll always be knocked down. It will never work. It is absolutely within your control and power to not accept a wrong situation from the start and that is exactly what James wants women to understand. Brilliant.
Mieke’s perspective is one that many woman can identify with while James gives shocking realizations including how our society, mothers in particular, are setting the stage and training their sons to essentially not be able to move in the world, understand boundaries or know how to take care of themselves and this is a big one – they are not learning how to respect women or authority and forget about them having a work ethic. He’s really on to something.
James ‘ insights are diverse and in many directions at once. His use of bold language to illustrate strong points is unnecessary but then again maybe not as you really can hear him pushing the reader to understand exactly what he is intending. The thing is – you feel what he is saying. I found myself shaking my head to an ever present Yes beat and even when I didn’t quite get it – I still understood its meaning.
Most powerful were his final words that sum up the power of James Cardinal’s wisdom in this MANual – “Instead of requiring life to show up in a tightly structured little box, you need to listen and see beyond what you can imagine. Because you are squashing the possibilities that life presents - when you try to force it. Just see what is there. It’s a whole different way and your response to relationships and how you move within them, everything will shift and change instantly.“ WOW.
Fun interesting read. Very thought provoking. Brings to life honest topics that many people face at some point in life
By taking to heart Jame's advice in this book I have been able to shift my priorities in what I was looking for in a man and I have now found the greatest guy and I have the best relationship of my life. Thank you James!!
